The DTM turns night into day
8/23/18 / DTM / Warm-Up
Summer, sea, hot asphalt action. DTM fans are going to witness two firsts this weekend: not only will the small Italian resort on the Adriatic coast be making its debut as a DTM event host, it will also be the first race in the popular touring car series to be held at night.
Sleepless in Misano
The venue for the spectacular event will be the 4.2-kilometer Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli – the third Italian track to be used for the DTM after Adria and Mugello. The 55-minute races being held on Saturday and Sunday will both start at 10.30 PM. The only previous race to be scheduled at a similar time was a qualifying run at the Nürburgring in 2003. After recently securing two top-ten results in England, Schaeffler driver Mike Rockenfeller is now hoping to collect more points in Italy with his Schaeffler Audi RS 5 DTM.
Schaeffler’s Italian anniversary
In Italy, the Schaeffler Group is mainly represented in Momo in the province of Novara (Piedmont). Activities encompass an aftermarket portfolio as well as new productions for the automotive and industrial sectors. The plant recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
A long DTM tradition
Schaeffler and its product brands have supported drivers and teams with know-how in motorsport and technology right from the start of the DTM. Since 2011, the technology group has been giving its name to the Schaeffler Audi, celebrating major successes including two title wins. In the DTM, cars with internal combustion engines have traditionally been used. With the help of innovative technologies and products, Schaeffler is working to make IC engines more efficient and fit for the mobility for tomorrow.
